About Goldie Wassermuhl
Goldie Wassermuhl earned a Master of Education at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, where she concentrated her studies on Abnormal Psychology. She was particularly interested in studying the philosophical divide created by the differences between psychological and biological approaches to mental disorders, focusing on the varying definitions of "abnormal." While attending the University of Toronto, she was an active jogger and regularly participated in aerobics classes. She graduated with honors in 1971, and then returned to the University of Toronto in 1975 to study Applied Psychology, earning a second Master’s degree three years later. Afterwards, she continued studying at the university, where she completed a significant amount of coursework in the Applied Psychology doctorate program. For many years, Goldie Wassermuhl worked as a Counselor at Seneca College in Toronto.
Goldie Wassermuhl is an active member of the Jewish philanthropic community in Toronto. A patron of the Toronto Jewish Film Festival, she donated funds in support of the popular festival's mission to provide the Toronto community with quality films depicting the international Jewish experience. Goldie Wassermuhl is also a member of the United Jewish Federation in Toronto, a division of the United Jewish Appeal of Canada, and proudly wears a Lion of Judah pin in recognition of her participation with the organization.
Although she retired in 2008, Goldie Wassermuhl continues to provide private counseling on a volunteer basis for people who cannot afford standard counseling fees. She stays fit through regular exercise, enjoying outdoor activities such as power walking and hiking. She and her husband divide their time between Toronto and South Beach, Florida.
